6/4 Hard Maple Lumber
6/4 Hard Maple Lumber
|Hard maple is creamy white with a reddish tinge and usually has a straight grain, sometimes curly or wavy. Fine brown growth rings give an attractive figure on plain sawn surfaces. Rays are longer than in Soft Maple. Texture is fine and even.
Weight averages about 45lbs per cu. ft.
|White Maple, Sugar Maple, Rock Maple
|High bending and crushing strength. Medium stiffness. Very good for steam bending.
|Difficult wood to work with moderate dulling effect on cutters. Wavy or curly grains require a reduced cutting angle. Pre-drilling required for nailing and screwing. Takes stain, glue and polish satisfactorily.
|Heartwood is non-durable and sapwood is susceptible to attack by furniture beetle. Defects caused by insects (pith flecks) are sometimes found. Heartwood is resistant to preservative treatment, but sapwood is permeable.
|Dries slowly with little degradation or problems. Medium movement.
|Suitable for furniture, joinery, heavy-duty flooring, dairy and laundry equipment, sporting goods, piano actions, paneling, plywood, veneering. Excellent for turning.
|Selected stock is rotary cut for Bird's Eye Maple veneer. Has a high resistance to abrasion and wear.

Discover How IpeDepot.com Offers Sustainable Ipe Decking at Such Low Prices
Since the inception of our company, we've purposely avoided, and have boycotted anyone in our procurement staff and our producers throughout Brazil from dealing with lumber brokers, traders, or mills with a reputation of non-compliance. While other company's might fall for the tricks and deceptive practices that many brokers and mills employ, we've heard enough horror stories from customers that have been burned to know that it's sometimes better to take the more righteous path. This simple action of avoiding the middleman has enabled us to consistently import and ship only the best, sustainably harvested Ipe wood decking to you, our valued customers.
